Blackpool Council proudly display the new installation via their Facebook page.
From their page – A new statue celebrating the importance of protecting Blackpool’s award-winning coastline has been unveiled today on Talbot Square.
The ‘Call of the Sea’ statue is a modern take on traditional sea goddesses and has been designed by artist Laurence Payot.
Laurence created the design after spending time with community groups including Streetlife, the council’s beach patrol team, fashion students from Blackpool and The Fylde College, and pupils from Blackpool Gateway Academy and Devonshire Primary Academy.
The public art project is funded by an external grant through the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership’s Growth Deal and is part of ongoing work taking place to regenerate the town centre.
