Update on todays Coastguard call out at Lytham!!

HM COASTGUARD LYTHAM issued the following statement, further to our earlier reports.

❗Emergency call out x3❗(January 27)

We were called out 14.39 this afternoon to reports of a person walking out towards the sea in the Fairhaven area, we arrived on scene and it was later established that the person was a fisherman and wasn’t in any difficulty.
A false alarm with good intent.👍

Whilst we were on scene we received reports of a second incident of a missing vulnerable person last seen close to Seafield road in Lytham, we relocated and started a search, Lytham St Anne’s RNLI page were also tasked, they launched their ILB and searched the water. After searching for a while and with the police and our ops room content we had searched all the areas we could, all units were stood down.

As we were returning to station we received reports of a person lost in the fog on St Anne’s beach, we deployed onto the beach and navigated in the dark and fog with visability less than 30 metres and searched until we found the lost person close to the 11.5 mile perch and took them back to shore.
