48 hours of snow chaos to hit Lytham St Annes as Arctic blizzard unleashes its load on the resort

Lytham St Annes residents are to be hit with an artic blizzard for 24 hours as the entire faces a bitter weekend of snow chaos, according to the latest  BBC weather forecast. Temperatures could plunge as low as -10C and up to 10cm of snow could blanket parts of the country. The BBC meteorologist Tomasz Schafernaker warned that the “chance of snow increases as we go through the weekend”.  He added “On the radar, you can clearly see the snow showers in the north-west, with a spot or two in the south.”

As of 10:04 the snow is becoming heavier in the area (Saturday 23/01/2021).

Lytham Green is expected to have sledging enthusiasts in their droves as the rare heavy snowfall hits the resort.

People are advised to drive with caution as the roads are expected to be dangerous, also pedestrians – especially the elderly –  should exercise caution as the pavements will be slippy.
