ANOTHER BUSY NIGHT FOR THE COASTGUARD.

2 people were rescued safely early this morning.

❗Emergency call out❗(August 12)

We were called out at 00.47 last night when Holyhead MRCC received reports from Lancashire Police that 2 people were in the water close to North Pier.

As our first volunteer arrived on scene they found two people clinging onto the stanchions of North Pier, several police officers from Blackpool Police had fortunately managed to give the casualties life rings. Our volunteer then took charge of one of the lines and managed to pull one of the casualties to safety, they were then passed into the care of the ambulance.

As more of our officers arrived on scene we put a plan into place to rescue the second casualty, after several attempts, the casualty was thankfully recovered from the water by RNLI Blackpool in very difficult conditions. The casualty was then transferred back to shore and passed into the care of North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Fantastic teamwork between ourselves and RNLI Blackpool resulted in two lives saved!

As we were standing down we received more reports of a possible person in the water across from the Imperial Hotel, we relocated to find it was a picnic blanket floating in the water, a false alarm with good intent.

National Police Air Service HQ were also in attendance.

People are urged to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you see a coastal emergency❗🆘️🚨
