COVID Cancels Christmas – Manchester Christmas Markets Officially AXED for 2020 ❌🎄

The North West’s favourite Christmas attraction, Manchester’s Christmas Markets, have officially been cancelled for 2020. The festive set up was due to be erected in the coming months, ready for shoppers and wanderers, selling mulled wine and hot chocolate and getting us all in the mood for Christmas.

Following the recent announcement putting several cities and towns in the north west into a stricter lockdown, it seems that Christmas markets are just a memory as this year they have not been approved.

Manchester council have kept the markets under review, as they are a big income annually for many local businesses, however even the proposals of smaller markets did not meet public health approval.

In addition, many winter festivities such as Christmas switch ons and bonfire/firework displays have been cancelled for the first time in years, and many families unable to reunite due to lockdown restrictions; it’s looking like a very bleak Christmas for 2020. The cherry on top of the year!
