Local Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Carrying Firearm Into St. Anne’s Town Hall

A local man has been arrested after reportedly entering St Anne’s Town Hall with a firearm.

There was a large police response at around 11.15 a.m. yesterday (Thursday 17th February) after reports that a man was carrying ‘something which resembled a firearm’ into the Town Hall.  No threats were made during the incident and the man left the building shortly after.

Police immediately attempted to trace him and today a 46-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. He currently remains in custody.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said, ‘Following that incident in St Anne’s yesterday we have today arrested a 46-year-old local man on suspicion of possession of a firearm. He remains in custody.’

In their initial statement, the Police explained: ‘ We were called at 11.15 a.m. to a report of a man carrying something which resembled a firearm at St Anne’s Town Hall. No threats were made and the individual has now left the building. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the man and there is an increased police presence in the area.’
