MP MARK MENZIES VISITS PEEL ROAD CADENT GAS WORKS

The road closure keeps being extended week after week, causing much frustration to local motorists.

From his page, Mr. Menzies issued this update –

Today I have visited the Cadent gas works at Peel Road to see for myself the challenges the team there face. I was struck by the scale of the gas leak they are tackling and by just how close it is to high voltage power lines.

Safety is, of course, the first consideration but I know many people are keen to see the road open soon, a point I emphasised again today. I know every effort was made to minimise disruption and to keep the road open but realise why that just wasn’t possible.

Specialist equipment should be on site next week to allow works to progress at pace. I am told everything should be completed by the end of November but will keep a close eye on developments.

I have been reassured there should be no disruption to gas supplies to homes and businesses in Fylde as repairs progress.

My thanks to Chris and Wayne from Cadent for taking the time to show me what’s going on and update me.
