Following their appeal for information, Police have said that they have identified the elderly driver involved in the hit and run which occurred outside the Tesco Express on St David’s Road North, St Anne’s at around 9 p.m. on Saturday, 12th March.
A local man in his 80s has been interviewed and is assisting with enquiries. No arrests have been made at this stage but the elderly identified driver, who failed to stop and drove away, remains under investigation.
The victim, a man also aged in his 80s, was left seriously injured at the scene. Ambulance paramedics attended and took the seriously injured pensioner to hospital. North West Ambulance Service said he suffered a serious leg injury, as well as extensive bruising to his head and body.
