Two Call Outs On Consecutive Evenings For Our Coastguard Team

Our brave Coastguard volunteers were called out at 7.56 p.m. yesterday evening (Friday 5th February) to reports of a flare spotted in the Blackpool area. The volunteer Coastguard Rescue Officers responded and searched the area.  They also set off several off parachute illuminating rocket flares to illuminate the area (see photograph above). However, on this occasion, there were no sightings of anything untoward so the Coastguard were duly stood down and returned to their base.

This follows a call out on Thursday night (4th February) when the volunteers were called out at 10.48 p.m. to reports of a vulnerable person in the Blackpool area. As our Coastguard arrived on scene, Blackpool Police had located the vulnerable person, and had taken the person into their care.  The Coastguard volunteers were duly stood down.
