Local motorcycle dealership donate impressive bike to NHS for out-of-hours transportation

North West Blood Bikes Charity ‘Lancs & Lakes’ provides a voluntary out of hours transport service to our local NHS hospitals by carrying urgent and emergency items e.g. blood, platelets, samples, donor breast milk, patient notes, theatre equipment, in fact anything that can be carried by motorcycle, solely for the benefit of the publicly funded emergency services and the patients being treated by them, within the NHS Hospitals.

North West Honda Supercentre in Blackpool want to give back to the NHS as the pandemic continues and the need for the out of hours transport on bikes becomes greater. Sales Manager Simon Carter and the North West Honda Super Centre team have just handed over the Newly donated 2020 Honda CRF1100 Africa Twin Plus ABS to Colette from The North West Blood Bikes Charity today.

This is the 4th Blood Bike they have donated to the North West Blood Bikes Lancs & Lakes Charity.

Like the previous bikes the dealer group have supplied, this Brand New 2020YM / 70 plate bike is fully maintained by them, including all servicing, replacement tyres and road tax.

From 2016 the company decided to give the volunteer group a helping hand to extend their fleet with a reliable new Honda and replace it annually as a thank you for giving up their own time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, come rain or shine.

This bike will once again become the Blackpool & Fylde Bike, which will continue to service our local surgeries and hospitals including Blackpool Victoria Hospital, the Harbour and many more.

We would love to see other motorcycle dealerships throughout the UK follow their lead and donate the use of a bike to other Blood Bike groups, so that they can continue to do the amazing work they do across the country.

North West Blood Bikes Mission Statement:

“To provide a Free, but professional voluntary out of hours transport service to our local NHS hospitals by carrying urgent and emergency blood, platelets, samples, donor breast milk, patient notes, theatre equipment, in fact anything that can be carried by motorcycle, between hospitals that is urgently required. We began in May 2012 and as the counter shows the number of call outs we are completing is growing exponentially. We provide this service through the night, at weekends and Bank Holidays enabling hospital funding to be better spent on patient care”

The bike is fully kitted with Aluminium Luggage, Heated Grips, Touring Screen , Cruise control and Apple Car Play TFT Screen with Bluetooth connectivity.

Thanks to the generous donation made by North West Honda Supercentre, NWBB will be able to do their job in comfort with all the practical elements they will need. This is an extra special year for Simon as the NWBB asked if he would like to choose the name of the New Fylde bike. Simon decided the bike should be named after his wonderful grandma, local lady Jos Hoyle. Jos played a huge part in Simon’s life. Jos, and her husband Frank Hoyle also both sat on the Fylde Council for many years. They were active members of the Twin Town association and Jos was a stalwart fundraiser for the Lytham Lifeboats.
