Nicola Mills, an acclaimed classically trained singer, is bringing her unique show, ‘Opera For The People’, to The Isaac Dixon Boathouse at Fairhaven Lake this Friday evening, 11th  November 2022.  If you love Andrea Bocelli and Andre Rieu then this performance, featuring the wonderful Nicola Mills,  who has gained international recognition through her work in Opera Houses around Europe, Canada and New York for 10 years, is certainly for you.

‘Opera For The People’ is a concert of popular opera and crossover music done in Nicola’s unique friendly style, where the audience chooses the songs from a Song Menu. The event begins at 7 p.m. when audience members will be asked to choose their favourite opera and classical music from a menu. Consequently, the show is bespoke to that audience that evening, and Nicola tailors the selection to suit the needs of everyone.

Tickets are £10 Adult / £8 Child and can be purchased online via https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/spot-on-rural-touring/t-moodzqz

Here’s more about the evening’s featured artiste, Nicola Mills:

Nicola attended The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama for 6 years. Chosen by Sir Thomas Allen for a series of masterclasses with The Samling Foundation, she then went on to work for Opera companies around Europe, as well as singing on the concert platform.

Nicola began her career at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, moved over to Amsterdam and sang for Dutch National Opera, various other smaller companies in Holland, in Het Concertgebouw, in Het Theater Carre, and appeared on Dutch Television. She then moved to Belgium to work for The Flemish Opera and later for Opera Monte Carlo. During this period she developed ‘The Down to Earth Diva’ which eventually became ‘Opera for the People’.

Her focus is on bringing happiness to people and combining her Northern English roots, and making Opera and music accessible to people in a friendly way. The Song Menu allows people to choose what they would like to hear. It’s full of popular Opera Classics, Classical Songs, songs from musicals, and a Pavarotti pop section.

Nicola has recently returned from New York where she premiered ‘A Soprano and a Suitcase’, and her latest project a tribute to Julie Andrews called ‘A Spoonful of Julie’, which was co-written with Stuart Barham, the former musical director of Cats with Elaine Paige.
