Appeal for witnesses after attempted theft of pensioners handbag

We are appealing for witnesses following the attempted robbery of a pensioner as she walked home in Ansdell, near Lytham.

We were called around 10.15am on March 7th to a report of an incident where a man attempted to steal a 75-year-old woman’s handbag.

The woman was walking home along Pembroke Road after getting off the number 17 bus when she was approached from behind and pushed to the ground, suffering facial injuries.

The offender, who ran away empty handed, is described as tall with dark hair.

An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.

We want to speak to anyone who got off the number 17 bus at around 9:50am on Marine Road close to the Fairhaven Pub, or anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to get on touch.

We also want to hear from anyone between Clifton Drive and Windsor Road who may have CCTV or dash cam footage that could assist with our investigation.
