Blackpool Zoo welcomes birth of endangered pileated gibbon

The birth of a baby pileated gibbon is ‘hugely important news for both the zoo and the species’ said Senior Primate Keeper, Charlotte Pennie.

There are currently just 14 pileated gibbons in the UK, with only two breeding pairs.

Pileated Gibbons originate from Cambodia, Laos and Eastern Thailand. They are endangered due to their habits being destroyed. This makes the news of a new born even more important.
