After the large gathering of young people on Lytham Green last night, locals were astounded as to how late the police arrived to the scene to break up the group, considering we are mid-pandemic.
The sheer amount of litter left on the Green, the lack of social distancing, drug abuse and noise pollution; gatherings like this must be shut down instantly.
It was reported last night by a witness, that the group were largely out-of-towners, most originating from Manchester, visiting Lytham for the day. It is clear that these people have no respect for our town and felt it was their right to leave their rubbish and keep the locals up to the early hours.
The police have announced that they will be upping the security in Lytham square and on the Green, with the intention of disbanding any large gatherings.
The police have also urged parents and guardians to pass on the message to their children – the events last night could have really escalated to something serious.
We urge locals to call 101 if they see any suspicious behaviour or indication of large gatherings or anti-social behaviour.
