After the recent sad news of TV presenter Caroline Flack’s untimely death, Lytham St Anne’s News asks “Are we doing enough to look out for each other?”
Loneliness is a real issue for many residents, and so how can we all do more to show that we care?
One way that other towns have tackled this issue is the introduction of ‘Happy To Chat’ signs on benches which encourage people to do just that – stop, chat and enjoy the view. You could make someone’s day just by having a ten minute break from shopping and passing the time with somebody who may be feeling down or isolated. Should our council follow this example?
A friendly smile and a natter about the weather (“Yes – It’s windy again”) is a way to reach out and give back to the community.
Remember – you never know what people are going through and we should all make time for each other.
