Health Secretary Savid Javid Visits Blackpool’s Victoria Hospital & Later Delivers Key Note Speech

Savid Javid, Secretary of State for Health & Social Care, was in Blackpool today (Thursday 16th September) to deliver a key note speech at The Grange Community Centre (pictured below). In his speech, ‘The Hidden Costs Of Covid-19’,  he spoke of the phenomenal work he had seen in action during the morning at Blackpool Victoria  Teaching Hospital. He said that it was these kinds of incredible efforts that have helped the catch up on cancer referrals, diagnosis and treatment.

He added that the majority of the funds from the new Health and Care Levy will initially go into the Health Service, an investment he claimed was the biggest catch-up plan in the history of the NHS. He added that some 9 million more checks, scans and treatments were going to be carried out. He said surgical hubs were going to be set up, so routine operations – things like hip replacements and cataract surgery – will never stop.
