With the warm weather returning, a little late to June, tourists fill up the green, beach and the beautiful countryside right on our doorstep.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue service have sent out a warning to the public that wildfire can be caused by leaving litter.
Much like a magnifying glass, an empty bottle can magnify the sunlight and easily cause a fire especially when surrounded by paper or cardboard. This is something people don’t think about when dropping litter, expecting others to pick it up.
Wildfires can spread at an alarming rate, killing innocent wildlife within minutes.
In order to avoid the risk of wildfire please take a minute to look for a bin; if you are on a walk and come across litter, do the right thing – pick it up. Although it may not be your mess, you will be saving lives and doing your bit for the environment.
