Local Artist Brings Lytham St Annes to Life in Extraordinary Oil Paintings

Local painter, Stevie Bruce, is becoming renown for his oil paintings depicting Lytham St Annes in the ‘Good Old Days’.

Stevie was originally a hairdresser from Ashton-under-Lyne, near Manchester. His partner one day bought him a paint set and told him he needed to get a hobby and from there his love for art blossomed. He later moved to Blackpool in 1997 and continued to paint whilst working mornings as a postman, finding joy in his new hobby.

Taking an interest in local history, Stevie found archives of old photographs, books displaying black and white images of Lytham St Annes. This sparked some inspiration, where he chose to recreate the images with colour.

The outcome is a selection of beautiful, nostalgic paintings that really capture Lytham St Annes in its hay-day. As a local, born and bred in this area, a feeling of home washes over when examining the art work.

Stevie also sells his art to locals as well as displaying paintings in local cafes such as the Pavillion Cafe in Ashton Gardens. He also has a website where you can view his artwork http://www.stevenbruceart.co.uk/

If you would like to purchase a painting please get in touch via email at srbruce@sky.com or via his Facebook page.
