Local Family Suffer Major House Fire (14.06.2021)

This morning (Monday 14th June) four fire crews from Lytham, St Anne’s, Blackpool and South Shore tackled a major fire involving a family home on Trafalgar Place in Lytham. On their arrival firefighters found the rear of the building well alight, with smoke also affecting two adjacent properties. The Fire Crews requested an aerial ladder platform to assist in assessing the roof of the property for fire spread. They extinguished the fire using three hose reels, eight breathing apparatus sets, a triple extension ladder and two thermal imaging cameras. Because of the severity of the blaze, crews were in attendance for around eleven hours.

This severe domestic fire has had a devastating impact upon the family, who have two small children.  A well-known, popular local resident Ben Butterworth has kindly started a Go Fund Me initiative to help and support the family at this most distressing time.

Ben, on the Go Fund Me Page, writes, ‘This morning (14/06/21) one of my neighbour’s houses on Lytham Quays caught fire, and the house is completely gutted throughout and they have lost most of their possessions, and with that, their memories. It’s going to be an enormous repair job, and essentially they are having to start again. They have 2 young children who will have lost most if not all of their toys, and will have a knock on effect to the parents working life. I’d like to raise some funds to help them out over the next few months whilst their property is repaired and they can return. Paul is very well known throughout the area, and does so much for the community. It would be amazing if we could give something back. Any donation is most welcomed and appreciated, no matter the value. Thank you.’
