Online Crib Service – 4pm Christmas Eve

Join in the online Crib Service service this Christmas Eve. St Cuthbert’s and St John’s would normally have over 1000 people at their Crib and Christingle services at this time of year. But this is no normal year! For many this is an essential part of Christmas, but fear not.

The service has been filmed all around Lytham, with input from Lytham CE Primary School, Hall Park Primary School, LAPA, NW1, Lytham Hall, Leafy Lytham, St Cuthbert’s Sunday School, Costa CHiL, a real donkey and a real stable, and people who had been randomly accosted all over town!

620 Christingle packs have been distributed to all the children from Hall Park Primary School and Lytham CE Primary school for them to make for the service.

Rev Nick Wells the Vicar of St Cuthbert’s and newly installed priest in charge of St John’s invited everyone to join on. “Join us on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/stcuthbertlytham/
or YouTube channel  https://youtube.com/channel/UCgh35yTMXdQAsda6BJAaUWw
at 4pm on Christmas Eve. Join in the carols, spot the Lytham locations and let the children of our town remind us of the real meaning of Christmas: the birth of Jesus” , he said.

“We need to be reminded that the Light that comes into the world cannot be overcome by darkness, this year more than ever.”

Normally at these services toys and presents are collected and then distributed to children and families in crisis across the Fylde Coast. This year people have been asked to drop off their presents at St Cuthbert’s Church Hall for the past two weeks. The response has been amazing. “We have probably received more than double our usual amount of gifts for families who need our help the most. Thank you to everyone for your generosity and kindness.” Added Rev Nick.

You don’t need to have a Facebook or YouTube  account to view the service and at the end everyone is invited to take their Christingle, candle or use the light on their phone to go to their front door or window and shine the light and join in singing Away in a Manager.
