The Anchor at Lytham….

What is it all about?

Lytham and St.Anne’s coastline have some brilliant iconic structures, like the Windmill, the beach huts, the wreck of the Pier, the White Church, photos of which we regularly share with out followers. There’s also an anchor, just near the windmill and the old lifeboat house, now seating shelters with the fabulous weather vane.

Caught in the net of a trawler from Fleetwood, called the “Biddy”, in the mid 1980s, these were restored by Fylde Council in 2013, and bear a plaque with further information about them, (although I didn’t see the smaller one mentioned.)

A lovely piece of local maritime history of you are visiting Lytham Promenade, and huge in real life! ⚓
