Saharan dust is relatively common in the UK often happening several times a year when big dust storms in the Sahara coincide with southerly wind patterns. In certain weather situations, Saharan dust can also affect air pollution and pollution levels. (Met office)

Low pressure to the North West is feeding the southerly winds across to the UK from the Canary Islands, aiding the Saharan Dust to be swept northerly.

The Met Office continues to say, “you may notice dust deposits on cars, & colourful sunrises/sunsets over the next few days.”

This is great news for our talented team of photographic contributors, but, however, we should make the most of the lovely warm spell, as there could be a “polar snow bomb” heading our way in early March 🌨️💣❄️. We’ll keep you posted 😊
