£10,000 Fine For Party Organiser in Kirkham Marquee

BBC’s North West Tonight (14.09.2020) shared a video taken at a party held in a marquee on Saturday night in the Dowbridge area of Kirkham to which Lancashire Police were called.

This was just one of the breaches of Covid-19 regulations Lancashire Police reported over a busy weekend.

This particular report came in to the police at around 7.20 p.m. on Saturday night and when officers followed it up they found a party taking place at an address in the Dowbridge area of Kirkham. There were 45 people present in a marquee and a live band was playing.

As a result a £10,000 fixed penalty notice was issued to the organiser.

Lancashire Police would like to reiterate that we are still in the middle of a pandemic and the rules are there to stop the spread of the virus and to keep everybody safe. The Police say they want things to go back to normal just as much as you.

The Police also say that though their approach has always been to engage with people to explain the rules, and they don’t take enforcement action lightly, they will issue fines for non-compliance where necessary.

Anybody who isn’t sure what the rules are should visit http://orlo.uk/ENj9c for more information.
