After the wind and rain from Storm Ciara, and with Storm Dennis (the Menace) on the way – it’s comforting to think of warmer Summer Days.  The annual St Anne’s Carnival is taking place, hopefully in seasonal sunshine, on Saturday 11th July and Sunday 12th July, 2020.

And here’s a warm invitation to enjoy being involved in this colourful, entertaining, long-established celebration.

If your business or organisation would like to take part in Saturday’s Carnival Parade, the Parade Marshall Will Harris would love to hear from you. Simply email Will on for an application form.

The Parade theme this year will be ‘Through the Decades’, as 2020 marks this wonderful event’s centenary, underpinning the deep significance of the Carnival in the history of St Anne’s.  Parade entries are encouraged to enter as famous people from the past one hundred years – or landmark events from the last century (for example England winning the World Cup in 1966 or the 1953 Everest Ascent) or a special decade (for example ‘The Swinging Sixties).  With one hundred years to choose from there are a wealth of exciting possibilities!

Over the weekend (11th July and 12th July) there will be events and stalls in Ashton Gardens.  If you would like to book a stall contact Dorothy by emailing her on

And don’t forget to put the dates in your diary for a brilliant weekend of fun in the Summer sunshine.
