A November to Remember – Boris Johnson announces a second dreaded lockdown

Following a sudden announcement that the Prime Minister Boris Johnson would speak to the nation on BBC One News from Downing Street, a second lockdown has been announced.

A lot of speculation has been circling The UK as there were rumours that the government were considering another’s full lockdown before Christmas. Many members of the public, including many of our followers accused the newspapers of ‘scaremongering’ as they released the leaked information.

It was however, revealed today by Boris Johnson, that the nation will be placed into a strict lockdown, with all non-essential shops, gyms & leisure centres, and salons will unfortunately close once again.

Despite this, schools, colleges and universities will stay open as the government could all agree that it is imperative to keep young people and children in education.

Takeaways will remain open during lockdown, allowing restaurants continue or reinstate a takeaway service for families at home.

The government have discouraged households from stockpiling following March’s chaos, where shops were emptied of pasta, flour and toilet rolls.

International travel will be banned unless for work, however Brits abroad will be able to return unlike in March, where many people were stuck abroad for some time.

Overnight stays will also be banned unless for work, and travel to different areas in the UK has been discouraged.

The furlough scheme will continue through the 4 weeks, allowing many workers to sleep a little better knowing they will still be paid a large percentage of their wage.

The new measures will come into force from midnight Thursday 5th November for 4 weeks until 2nd December, whereafter the country will return to the three tier system.
