Work to improve access to the £5m sports village development site at Blackpool Airport’s Enterprise Zone off Common Edge Road will cause delays for motorists next week.
On Wednesday 16th February and Thursday 17th February work will be ongoing on Queensway, Common Edge Road and Division Lane. There will be temporary traffic signals as well as stop/go boards to help the traffic flow. Helping to keep delays and congestion to a minimum, this work will mainly be carried out between the off-peak hours of 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
A spokesperson for the Highways’ Team at Blackpool Council explained, ‘Access for residents will be maintained where possible, although short delays are likely. Signs will be displayed with dates and times of the planned works. If you need to make a journey through the works, please allow extra time. Operatives stationed throughout the site will be happy to assist. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation and your patience while we continue to Make Blackpool Better.’
These works will be in progress as the other main route between Blackpool and St Anne’s, on Clifton Drive, is affected by road works and the construction of discrete cycle lanes.
