An anonymous and poignant tribute was photographed last night, placed just outside St Anne’s RNLI lifeboat station.
Multi-agency emergency rescue personnel had valiantly battled against tide and time to rescue brothers who had gone for a swim in the sea whilst on a family day trip to the Fylde coast, that sadly ended in the worst tragedy imaginable.
We would like to convey our deepest sympathy to the family of the boys, and to thank the RNLI, HM Coastguard and all other agencies involved in the intense rescue attempt.
We must urge visitors and locals alike, to stay safe and beware of open waters, and coastal currents. Locals will agree that we have all lived through numerous tragic incidents and deaths involving the sea on days with treacherous winds. It is important to stay away from the sea on these days, even the best swimmers may find themselves in serious trouble.
