Lytham Coastguard were called out at 4.07 a.m. this morning (31st August, 2020) to reports of an injured person who had fallen from the Blackpool sea wall.
The Coastguard Rescue Officers (CRO) were first on scene and quickly assessed the scene, with the condition of the casualty and the precarious position they were in, they requested the assistance of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service or their Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP).
Whilst they were waiting for the Fire Service to set up their equipment, our Coastguard assisted the North West Ambulance Service with the stabilisation of the casualty and secured them on a stretcher then transferred them onto the ALP.
With the casualty successfully transferred back onto land, the paramedics took them to the hospital. With a successful outcome and great multi agency work all units were stood down. Blackpool Police also attended.
Lytham Coastguard would also like to say thank you to Fylde Coast Cleaners for stopping and letting them use their ladders so they could safely get to the casualty before the Fire Service arrived,
