Audi Driver From St. Anne’s In Court Following Tragic Death Of Kirkham Teenager

David Turner, 31, of Martin Road, St. Anne’s has made his first appearance at Blackpool Magistrates Court charged with causing the death of Kirkham teenager Gabriel Fields, 19, who tragically died in a road accident on Station Road, Wesham last year.

Gabriel was hit by an Audi S3 just after 10 p.m. on 4th July, 2020 and suffered multiple injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency crews, Gabriel died a short time later. The driver of the Audi, David Turner also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital along with three passengers. The crash site was marked last Summer by hundreds of flowers and tributes to Gabriel.

Gabriel, who was studying psychology at Salford University, was described by his family following the incident as a ‘kind, loving, and intelligent young man’ and was ‘an amazing son, brother and friend.’ During the Summer of 2020, following his first year at University, Gabriel had secured a part time job at Wesham Co-Op.

In Blackpool’s Magistrates Court today (Monday 2nd August) , David Turner also faced a further charge of seriously injuring a woman by dangerous driving in the same in incident and with failing to provide a specimen after his arrest.

The case was sent to Preston Crown Court by District Judge Jane Goodwin.
