Blackpool Taxi Driver Stabbed In Stomach & Dashcam Stolen In Shocking Cab Attack

A Blackpool taxi driver is in a serious condition after being stabbed in the stomach whilst in his cab just before midnight yesterday (Wednesday 13th March). The Hackney Cab driver in his 30s suffered knife wounds to the stomach inside his vehicle.  His dashcam was also stolen during the attack on Mythop Road.

The driver was rushed to hospital where Police say he remains in a serious but stable condition. Lancashire Constabulary has launched an investigation into the incident, and put in place an increased Police presence in the area.

A spokesperson for the Police has given these details of the attack: ‘We were called to Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, at 11.37 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday March 13) to reports of an assault which had taken place in Mythop Road around five minutes earlier.

It was reported that a Hackney Cab driver had been stabbed to the stomach inside his vehicle. His dashcam was also stolen. The victim – a man in his 30s – has been taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

We understand that this incident will cause the community a great deal of concern. We want to reassure everyone that while work is ongoing to understand the motive for the assault this is very much being treated as an isolated incident.

We have a dedicated team of officers assigned to this investigation and there will be an increased police presence in the area. If you have any concerns or any information which could assist our investigation, please stop an officer and talk to them.

The enquiry is still very much in its early stages and further information will be released as the enquiry progresses.
