Brand New TV News Channel Launches Next Monday 25th April

A brand-new national TV News Channel is due to launch next Monday 25th April. Named TalkTV, the channel plans to feature hourly news bulletins, sports and entertainment shows as well as current affairs, debate, opinion and documentaries. Commentators have said that the channel, owned by Rupert Murdock’s News UK organisation, has been formed to once again give the media mogul a window on Britain’s TV screens following his sale of his stake in Sky in 2018.

TV News will launch nationally at 7.00 p.m. next Monday with its primetime programmes.

‘The News Desk’ is scheduled at 7.00 p.m. each night and will be fronted by Tom Newton Dunn, currently chief political commentator at Times Radio.

At 8.00 p.m. each weeknight, the channel’s biggest signing, Piers Morgan, is back with ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’. Announcing his return the outspoken Piers said, ‘I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged.’  The station’s marketing campaign is centred on Piers and is based around the strapline: ‘Straight talking starts here.’

An hour later Sharon Osbourne hosts ‘The Talk’. This 9 p.m. hour-long show will, in Sharon’s words, ‘bring together five opinionated famous faces – all from different backgrounds and with differing views – to debate the most interesting stories of the day’.

Talkradio’s Julia Hartley-Brewer, Mike Graham, Ian Collins and Jeremy Kyle will be simulcast on TalkTV during the daytime before the primetime TV shows come on air.

TalkTV will be available from Monday 25 April on the following channel numbers:

Sky 526

Virgin Media 627

Freeview 237

Freesat 217
