The future of the closed bank on Clifton Street is currently being discussed.
On Monday 16th, the Flyde Council received an application from Whinfield Properties Limited. This could see the bank become a high-end retailer, marking the end of over 2 years of closure.
This has proved controversial though as, despite not being a listed building, it is located in the Lytham Town Centre conservation area.
However, the planning application has committed to re-energise the street by ‘bringing a currently vacant prime premises back into active use’. It is estimated that, if permission is granted, it could bring more visitors onto Clifton Street and Lytham town centre.
