Coastguard and RNLI rescue person who was cut off by the tide, WARNING to locals

HM Coastguard Fleetwood were called out at 4.20am yesterday morning (6th January) after reports of someone who had been cut off by the incoming tide.

The crew arrived quickly at the scene and launched the RNLI Fleetwood lifeboat, recovering the individual.

“Whilst under the watchful eye of NCI Fleetwood, the ILB made its way through the channels to eventually collect the casualty and transfer them back to shore,” a spokesman for HM Coastguard Fleetwood said.

The coastguard has now issued a warning to anyone who does venture out onto the beach during their daily exercise to make themselves aware of their surroundings and the tide times “as this could have been a completely different story.”

It is an important message to ALL locals on the Fylde Coast when exercising on the beach, check the tide tables. A quick Google search will tell you whether it is safe or not. Be aware of your surroundings.
