Construction on the Lowther Pavilion’s 150-seat Education Centre & Studio Theatre, part of a multi-million-pound redevelopment campaign, started today (Tuesday 29th August).
The work, carried out by Preston-based J. Robinson Building Contractors Ltd, will commence by constructing the shell of the building, which is expected to be completed in May 2024. This marks an important milestone for the first phase of the redevelopment campaign.
This project is the first of three phases, which proposes to keep Lowther at the heart of the Fylde community while aiming to captivate new audiences and present a cutting-edge programme.
Teresa Mallabone, Chair of the Lowther Gardens Trust, said, ‘This is a momentous stage in the Trust’s journey to provide the Fylde Coast with a state-of-the-art facility that will not only serve the local community but also attract visitors to the area.’
This phase of Lowther’s ambitious redevelopment campaign has been funded by incredibly generous donations from organisations such as the Windmill Community Benefit Society, Soroptimist Society, Beaverbrooks, Dougie Chapman Associates, and the continuing support of the theatre’s loyal customer base.
A Lowther Pavilion spokesperson added, ‘We’d like to say thank you to everyone who has donated in the past and all those who continue to do so – your support is incredibly important.’
