As it reads on the sign at the fenced off entrance way, work at Church Scar, Lytham has now been completed and this section of the sea defence project was due to re-open to the public on the 31st March 2020.  However, due to the current coronavirus pandemic and the advice around social distancing and stay home, the council has made the decision to keep the area closed so as not to encourage groups of people to visit the area. Despite this warning, many people were seen walking along this new section of path, with one devious dog-walker explaining to other people how to “duck under the fence to get in”.

Maureen Taylor was walking her dog along Granny’s Bay this morning and she said “I saw at least three groups of people walking along the closed path area with their dogs, I managed to take some photographs as evidence and send  to Lytham St Annes News”.
