Dismay At Granny’s Bay – ‘I Can No Longer Park Here For Free’

An incensed and infuriated Lytham St Anne’s News reader has contacted us to vent her anger and anguish at the newly imposed car parking arrangements which have come in force at the Stanner Bank Car Park.  On travelling to Granny’s Bay last week, she was shocked and appalled at the new requirement imposed upon disabled badge holders to purchase tickets for car parking.  She has strongly expressed to us what she considers to be another example of this continued erosion of the concessions for disabled drivers and says she intends writing to Fylde Council and Mark Menzies to immediately reinstate free parking for those with disabled badges.

Her complaint follows the new barrier at Stanner Bank Car Park becoming operational last week – charging from 9.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. Whilst parking is free after 6.00 p.m., tickets still need to be validated at the payment machine. As already noted, there are now no concessions for disabled parking and all need to purchase tickets – or risk a fine!
