The Lowther Pavilion has launched a brand new course for young people interested in working backstage in theatre and entertainment venues.
Each Monday, from 21st September until 23rd November, 2020, the Lowther will be hosting a focused course for young people to learn a wealth of skills centred on backstage work in the theatre. The course will teach the skills of lighting, sound engineering, and other technical aspects of live events. This course will include:
• masterclasses led by industry professionals
• hands-on workshop sessions
• shadowing the technical team as they stage manage live shows
• independently managing a full show.
This project has been created to support, nurture, and discover the next generation of technical and stage managers. Applications are now welcome by email firstname.lastname@example.org. Applicants are asked to provide their contact details plus a few details about themselves and why this ccurse interests them.
In launching the course, Tim Lince, representing the Lowther Trust announced, ‘The Lowther has always been Fylde’s community venue and to further enhance what we do in providing first class support for the arts at the venue we are launching this Young Technicians’ course. The opportunity of working alongside some of the industry’s leading technicians will give young people with an interest in technical theatre a great grounding in the skills needed and give them real hands on experience. Lowther has always supported young performers and now it is time to literally turn the spotlight on those working in technical positions and backstage. I am thrilled that we have the opportunity to train the next generation and help in giving so much pleasure to so many.’
