Face Mask Rules & Covid Passes To End In England

Boris Johnson has today announced the end of all Covid measures introduced to combat the Omicron variant, including masks on public transport and shops, work-from-home guidance and vaccine certificates. These changes would come into effect from Wednesday 26th January.  The Prime Minister also confirmed the intention to end self-isolation rules for people with coronavirus in the coming weeks.

More immediately, from tomorrow, secondary school pupils will no longer have to wear face masks in classrooms, with the Department of Education set to remove guidance on their use in communal areas. However, the government will continue to advise that people wear face coverings in enclosed or crowded spaces, particularly when meeting strangers.
