Flag at half mast at Fylde Council Town Hall.

A message from Fylde Council Leader, Karen Buckley:

The flag at the Town Hall is flown at half-mast to mark the tragic death of a 19 year old young man from Preston who came to St Annes on Friday with his friends to enjoy a day on the beach and sadly had his life cut short when he got into difficulty in the sea. It is truly heart-breaking and we send sincere condolences to his family and friends. Our thoughts are also with the emergency services who made strenuous efforts to save him.

Fylde Police have asked for witnesses to the incident to contact them on 101 or by email on 8121@lancashire.police.uk quoting log number 1515 of July 23rd.

To everyone visiting the beach and other open water beauty spots this summer, please take extra care. The tides are dangerous and can quickly cut you off. Look out for each other and stay safe.
