In a quiet corner of Fairhaven lake, by the public footpath crossing to the west side, a strong odour of faecal matter can be smelled, along with a dumped unsightly dog poo bag floating in the water.
The cause of the smell is unclear, but the beautiful lake, a key part of local life and history, is now tainted with waste. It is doubtful that the smell has come from the natural inhabitants, as it seems human in origin. Which in turn poses a risk to wildlife residing at the lake.
A local commented; “It’s as if some sewage or animal waste has been dumped here, it’s smells totally disgusting.”
Fylde Council has been notified of the issue and a report has been made.
