FREE PARKING in Fylde car parks for Christmas shoppers on weekends from 5th – 20th December

Once again, Fylde Council have announced that they will disable parking meters during weekends in December to allow Christmas shoppers to browse at their leisure.

After huge success last year, many locals were delighted that the streets outside their homes weren’t packed with cars, and shoppers were pleased to be able to shop in their own time. The dates allowing free parking are:

5th & 6th December
12th & 13th December
19th & 20th December

In addition, St Annes Square’s car parks will be free from 3pm on weekdays. Lytham’s car parks will continue to charge until 6pm on weekdays.

Some locals have commented that they believe there should be no parking charges at any time. Adrienne Bennett commented:  “I’m genuinely curious as to why parking is charged for given the poor state of shopping in St Annes (even pre-COVID). I know parking is a revenue stream however I’d really like to understand the council’s strategy for rejuvenating the town centre otherwise very soon, it seems to me, there will be no point in charging for parking anyway 🤔
