From Scotland To Blackpool – For An Available Driving Test!

Learner drivers from Paisley in Scotland are making a 400 mile round trip to Blackpool to sit their driving tests as Covid-19 delays have resulted in a four month back log North of the Border, says a report in the Paisley Daily Express.  Social distancing regulations in Scotland have limited the number of people able to attend at test centres, resulting in long queues.  In Renfrewshire the first available spot in currently in November, almost six months away!

Paisley driving instructor Peter Harvey is the National Chairman of the Motor Schools Association of Great Britain.  He told the Paisley Daily Express, ‘People for this area are travelling to Blackpool to sit their theory test as they can’t wait the 16 weeks to get a test in Paisley.  As soon as any spots become avaialbe, they are beingsnapped right up, so its very difficult to get a theory test booked. Learners are facing the same problems with a practical test.  Right now the first practical test in Paisley is in November.’
