Animal lovers are hoping to force police and the council to ban the use of fireworks on New Years Eve after last night’s celebrations.
Hundreds of people set off industrial sized fireworks last night in the hours leading up to midnight to mark the new decade.
However dog owners say the terror and fright the loud bangs cause in small animals should be enough to force the council to create a law to ban the fireworks on New Years Eve
Campaigners said “we want to gauge the interest of people in Lytham St Annes to find out how much power we have to get the council to ban fireworks.
”my dogs were terrified last night and wet themselves because they were so frightened.”
