WHODUNNIT lovers and spy fans alike will be able to get stuck into a new cosy murder mystery as acclaimed Fylde coast author Michael Davies has just released his latest novel.
From Murder With Love offers a hint of 007 – including chapter titles nodding to the 25 Bond films – as readers follow the third instalment of the Cosy Crime Club series about a bookshop reading group who have branched out into solving murders.
The Cosy Crime Club features the four members of the Quaint Bookshop reading group as they use the skills they’ve learned from reading detective fiction in an attempt to solve murders. In their first adventure, Murder by the Book, they take on the murder of their very own bookshop manager. The second, A Game of Murder, sees the quartet as guests in a remote, snowbound country house, where a mysterious death begins to take on elements of a certain board game.
Now From Murder With Love drops the intrepid group into the world of secrets, spies and international espionage, complete with chapter headings such as Tamara Never Dies, The World Is Not Un Oeuf and No Time to Diet.
Former newspaper editor Davies wrote thrillers for publishers HarperCollins before switching to cosy crime under the name M. R. G. Davies, released by One More Chapter. The first two bestselling books in the new series have proved hugely popular with readers, whose comments include: “I am fully invested in the Quaint Bookshop reading group. Long may this series continue”; and “a perfect pick for anyone who loves their crime fiction with a wink, a twist and a dash of adventure”.
Davies said: “I’ve been truly thrilled by the response from readers to the reading group – Professor Stone, Bella Bourton, Lauren Sherwood and Harrison Fforde. They seem to have found an instant place in people’s hearts, and I’m loving introducing them to ever more intriguing situations to practise their detective skills. The world of espionage was just too good an opportunity to pass up, and I hope the combination of spies and cosy crime strikes a chord with fans of both genres.”
From Murder With Love is published in ebook, audiobook and paperback and is available now from all good bookshops or online.
