Storm Francis will batter the North West Coast on Tuesday and Wednesday and there are warnings of severe winds worse that the very recent Storm Ellen – caution meteorologists from the MeteoGroup.
The Met Office agreed by announcing, ‘A deep area of low pressure will cross the UK from Monday night, bringing wind gusts of 60mph and potentially 70mph in exposed western locations and heavy rain for many.’
A yellow alert for heavy rain is in place from midnight on Tuesday, August 25 until 6am Wednesday, August 26, while the alert for strong wind is in place from 9am Tuesday until 9am Wednesday. This yellow warning for gusts of over 60mp has been issued for our area as a vicious vortex some 700 miles wide is set to hit Lancashire along with the rest of England (see map below).
Enjoy today’s calm before the storm, as the Met Office warn that tomorrow coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be severely affected by spray and large waves.
