Has Fylde Council Been Hacked?

‘Hacking’ is when someone breaks into a computer system. And a deeply concerned local resident is very worried that this may have happened to Fylde Council following the receipt of the email depicted below.

The email states:

‘A malicious phishing email has been sent via a Fylde Council email address this morning o your account. We advise that you delete this email. The email is not from Kirstine Riding. The email contains a link which has now been disabled.

If you opened the email and clicked the link before the link was disabled, this would have opened document which contained a further link to a malicious website that invited you to share credentials.

Fylde are actively investigated this incident and thank you for your attention on this matter.’

The warning email is signed by Allan Oldfield, Fylde’s Chief Executive.

The concerned resident expressed worried that her  ‘data was placed at significant risk including card details etc.’

An update reveals that it appears that the account of Kirstine Riding, Housing Services Manager, has been hacked -see below:
