Here’s How To Access Your Free Covid-19 Tests In Lytham St. Anne’s

EVERYONE in Lytham St.Anne’s will be able to access free rapid Covid-19 tests from today, Friday 9th April. To order the free delivery of rapid lateral flow home test kits, visit https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests. You can order the lateral flow tests (LFDs) for yourself and your family to use twice a week.

This rapid lateral flow test is coronavirus test that you simply do yourself. It shows you the result on a handheld device that comes with the test. You take a swab from the back of your throat or your nostrils, and then mix it with solution. Then you drip the solution onto the specimen strip, and wait for 30 minutes. After this you should either see a positive, negative or inconclusive result.

With one in 3 people with COVID-19 not displaying any symptoms, you may be spreading the virus unwittingly. Rapid testing detects cases quickly, meaning anyone with a positive result can isolate immediately. The government said alongside the vaccine rollout, regular testing is ‘at the heart of plans to reopen society and the economy, helping to suppress and control the spread of variants.’

A new Pharmacy Collect’ service is also launching which will provide an additional route to regular testing. People aged over 18 without symptoms will be able to visit a participating local pharmacy and collect a box of seven rapid tests to use twice a week at home.

The Government website says that these pharmacies are among the many participating in the scheme:

  • Smiths Pharmacy on Warton Street (pictured below)
  • Woodend Healthcare at the Lytham Primary Care Centre
  • Tomlinson’s on Market Street
  • Pharmacy Care on St Alban’s Road

People who test positive will be asked to self-isolate in the normal way, as well as providing details of their contacts to the Test and Trace service.
