HM COASTGUARD LYTHAM ISSUE IMPORTANT STATEMENT 👇
❗Emergency call out x2❗ (December 23)
We were called out at 17.59 this evening to reports of a person stuck on a ledge underneath North Pier, our volunteer coastguard rescue officers arrived on scene and started a hasty search in the area. With nobody located in the area and our operations room tracing the call coming from well inland, this was deemed a HOAX call! We cannot stress the importance of only calling in the event of a genuine emergency. It can and will cost lives if you hoax call us! #HoaxCallsCanKill
RNLI Blackpool were also tasked.
Whilst we were standing down from this job we received reports that screams had been heard coming from the sand dunes in the Fairhaven area. Fylde Police requested our attendance to search the area, we searched the area extensively and found nothing untoward, with our operations room and the police happy, all units were stood down. A false alarm with good intent.
HM Coastguard Fleetwood were also in attendance at both jobs.
