Lancashire Police have said that officers had a busy weekend issuing 179 fines. They say they have caught people throwing parties, gathering with others from outside their household, making unnecessary journeys and, despite the government ordering all sports and leisure providers to close, they even found a gym still operating. Police were also proactive in carrying out checks across our county.
Additioanlly, Terry Woods, Deputy Chief Constable of Lancashire Police, has tweeted: ‘A busy weekend for Lancashire Police, especially COVID policing. 100’s of incidents deployed to and numerous proactice checks. A number of fines were issued for parties and unnecessary journeys etc. Please stay at home, please stay local. Too many didn’t this weekend but thanks to those that did.’
