Large Scale Construction Work At Lytham St. Anne’s High School Commences

Lytham St.Anne’s High School Headteacher Ray Baker and students have celebrated the commencement of the new developments at the school. They were joined by MP Mark Menzies, the Department for Education’s Operations Group Director General Mike Green and Sir James Wates of Wates Group for the turf cutting ceremony. The new building will be one of the UK’s first net zero schools and, it is stated, will provide a state of the art learning environment for young people here in Lytham and St Anne’s.

It’s the first such project in the School Rebuilding Programme where work has started on site and, thanks to the use of modern construction methods, will be open to pupils in 2023.

Lytham St Anne’s High School is the biggest school in the Fylde Borough and was one of fifty schools nationally to receive a share of £1bn funding through the Government’s School’s Rebuilding Programme.  Teaching and learning at the school will be enriched by a wealth of enhanced facilities, including a new large two-storey teaching building and a new sports centre. This construction work will be followed by the demolition of some of the existing teaching and learning accommodation. A car park repositioning as well as the replacement of two sports courts are also part of the extensive redevelopment plans.
